Dealing with slow drains in an older Welland home – any advice?

Hi everyone! We recently moved into a lovely older home near the canal in Welland, and we’re absolutely loving the character of the place. However, we’ve started noticing some frustrating issues with the plumbing. The kitchen sink takes forever to drain, and there’s a strange gurgling sound coming from the pipes whenever we run the dishwasher. I’ve tried the usual store-bought liquid cleaners, but they don't seem to do much. I’m worried that since the house is older, we might have some serious buildup or even tree roots interfering with the lines. Does anyone have a recommendation for someone local who actually knows how to handle these older systems without making a mess of my basement?

Welcome to the neighborhood! Those older homes in Welland are beautiful, but the plumbing can definitely be a bit temperamental. We had the exact same gurgling issue last year, and it turned out to be a blockage deep in the main line that a simple plunger couldn't reach. Instead of guessing, we decided to call some professional plumbers in welland https://superiorplumbing.ca/welland/ to come and take a look. They were fantastic—they used a camera to inspect the pipes and found exactly where the debris was trapped. They cleared it out quickly and even gave us some tips on how to maintain our older drains to prevent it from happening again. They were very respectful of our home and the price was very fair. Definitely give them a shout before the "slow drain" becomes a "no drain" situation!
